I know it’s been a while since my last post, and I do apologize for my absence but I promise it has been all good things keeping me busy and there will be lots to keep you entertained in the coming weeks. So thanks for sticking with me.
So without further delay let’s get to it with a wrap up of the past month and a review of the past few weeks of June shall we.
First let me say – WOW –
It’s June already! I can’t even believe it. My favorite season is here and despite the week and a half of rain the summer weather has already set in.
This month has been nothing but amazing thus far especially for me and the hubs.
Also, I’m in a bit of a celebratory mood having been at this for SIX months now! OMG! It’s been a whirlwind and I’ve loved every second of it!
Before we jump in here are some of the big things that happened in the month of May.
The month of May was National Bicycle Month and saw initiatives like “Bike to Work Day” and biker ettiquette info sessions popping up all over.
First, on Monday, May 24th, we honored the fallen ladies and gents of the United States armed forces who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. To their families and friends we say Happy Memorial day!
In honor of one of the faculty members of my alma mater, Dr. Derrick E. Griffith – a victim of the Philadelphia Amtrak crash, a memorial was held where it was announced that a scholarship fund would be founded to continue his legacy in educating this city’s youth, allowing students to further or continue their education.
H&M announced their latest fashion collaboration with none other than – Balmain and the incredible creative genius – Olivier Rousteing. This news was delivered the week of the Billboar Awards and sent the fashion and blog world into overdrive.
Target announced two new collaborations, first with jewelry guru Eddie Borgo and the retailer’s highly anticipated fall collab will be featuring lots of plaid as they mix it up with a limited-edition collection by designer Adam Lippes.
The Billboard Awards hosted by Chrissy Tiegen, rocked the world with it’s amazing line up of performers as well as stunning red carpet turnout like cast members of Fx’s hit show as well as models Jordan Dunn and Kendall Jenner with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing;
We also saw record breaking temperatures and death tolls during a heatwave in India;
Floods in Texas due to a severe weather system;
The eruption of Galapagos Islands’ Wolf volcano erupts for the first time in 33 years;
A FIFA Corruption Scandal that spanned in several of the organizations international members;
And the month of June was noted as one of Baltimore’s bloodiest as civillians and authorities continued to clash. The bloodshed hit an all time high – the highest since the 1970’s.
And let’s not forget, a big congratulatory shout out to all the graduates for class of 2015!

In television news, the announcement of some awesome new test line ups for the summer by major networks as well as the return of fan favorites.
The return of Devious Maids had fans who were left with a major cliff hanger at ease as none of the ladies were killed off and saw the return of one of the Hollywood couples;
Orange is the New Black is also back with a bang and ushering some new faces as well as some more crazy antics and plot line twists;
If you’re into the medical drama type’s I’m sre you’re well aware of the return of USA’s summer favorite Royal Pains;
For all you fans of the guilty pleasure rejoice as a new Starz favorite, Power, featuring actor Omari Hardwick and rapper 50 Cent, has returned with more excitement and drama.

Ryan Seacrest’s Becoming us on ABC Family; based on the family life of a young man whose dad becomes his mom;
The Astronaut’s Wives Club, based on the New York times best selling novel of the same name, which follows the lives of the ladies behind some of the world’s heroes of their time ; premiers on ABC at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18th.
And, at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21st don’t miss the 2-hour premier of TNT’s sci-fi thriller The Last Ship.
It seems that fans have not yet tired of the Jurassic Series as Jurassic World take a bite of box office grosses with the largest global debut of all time.

Miley Cyrus poses naked for Paper magzaine and gets very candid about all things Miley and her sexuality, including telling her mother she was into girls at the age of 14! Heck of a read.
Yet another cover for television queen Kerry Washington who cover Marie Claire UK;
The men on Empire on the cover of Essence;
Lupita N’yongo looking absolutely stunning on yet another amazing cover;
And blogger Olivia Palermo covers Cosmopolitan, as the trend of featuring bloggers catching on after Lucky magazine and Eva Chen broke ground on the concept.
And the Music Festivals have begun rolling in, with The Governor’s Ball kicking off last weekend on New York City’s Randall’s Island, June 6th – 8th.
Also happening around the City, The Northside Festival, from June 8th to 14th. With an awesome lineup featuring 400 bands including the likes of Canadian post-punk band Viet Cong, and Brooklyn locals Beverly and Sleigh Bells, it was an exciting weekend in the city.
The Bonnaroo Summer Jam is also in full swing – and may have been too much for one fan who died due to an apparent heart- related illness.
Apple has announced a new app that combines a streaming song and music video library, an internet radio station and a way for artists to share unreleased tracks and other material. It includes a recommendation system that uses both human curators and computer algorithms to suggest songs, as well the ability to downloads songs for offline playback. The service is set to challenge Spotify, Tidal and other music apps.
Cirque du Soleil will debut music by Latin music sensations Soda, the Soda Stereo Spectacular will premier in 2017.
Also at last week’s Summer Jam concert, madness ensued as over 60 people were arrested and charged with trespassing after trying to access the event without tickets. Thankfully there was not any severe damage or many injured.
The month of June is dedicated to Men’s Health and cancer awareness month, with Men’s Health week this past week from June 7th – 14th.
J. Crew eliminates 175 corporate staffers and appoint Madewell’s former creative director’s of Women’s wear as new director;
New Mulberry Chairman, Godfrey Davis, former Céline golden boy, optimistic about new strategies to move the company forward despite dismal numbers for this past quarter;
Former Gucci creative director, Frida Giannini married her long-time beau and former Gucci had honcho Patrizio di Marco on Friday in a custom-made Valentino gown.
Madame Carven, Born Carmen de Tommaso, designer and contemporary of Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain and Hubert de Givenchy, passed away in Paris at the age of 105.
29-year-old Russian model-turned-actress, Irina Shayk has been accused of having an affair with former FIFA president Sepp Blatter, the 79-year-old former executive – who is currently mired in a corruption scandal following the arrest of seven top FIFA officials accused of accepting bribes – in a piece by Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
The Rachel Dolezal controversy continues as more and more information comes to light. The Spokane, WA. NAACP president came under scrutiny after her estranged mother with whom she is currently at legal odds with outed her to news networks for being caucasian.
Residents of Georgia’s capital have been warned to stay indoors after heavy flooding destroyed enclosures at Tbilisi’s zoo, allowing tigers, lions, bears, wolves and other animals to escape;
The hunt still continues for the two convicted murderers who escaped from a New York State maximum security prison – with the latest development that the convicts may have been able to avoid being caught this long by having altered their appearance;
After an oil spill on the United States west coast in Santa Barbara California, officials and environmentalist step up their response;
South Africa bans Sudanese president from leaving after call for arrest as urged by the country’s courts;
Historic sites across Nepal are set to be reopened after the nation has been rocked by several strong earthquakes in the last month;
Colombian army claims to have killed a top military commander from the country’s second largest guerrilla groups, the National Liberation Fund.
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome death toll continue to rise in South Korea with a total of 16 dead thus far;

After the success of her first cover and almost breaking the internet – Caitlyn Jenner has continued to bombard our news feeds and the media as her every single move is now media fodder. I applaud her influence on Transgender acceptance and joining the likes of Laverne Cox in making these issues mainstream.
The Belly button challenge has gone mainstream. What the heck is that anyway? According to Buzzfeed, the challenge involves people wrapping an arm around their waists, and seeing if they can touch their belly buttons. Two big factors in completing the challenge involve having a tiny waist and really flexible arms. The challenge apparently originated from an unknown U.S. study that claims women who can complete it have good bodies, and those who can’t need to lose weight.
I’m looking forward to the return of Mistresses on this Thursday, June 18th. Also in my line up – Fx’s Tyrant which also premiere’s this week. If you haven’t seen either one I suggest taking a look – you might just find something else to binge watch.
I also cannot wait for the return of The Mindy Project on Hulu- I need my weekly dose of Mindy and Danny drama – plus that cliff hanger though!?! :s
