Weekly Rewind

Hi guys,

This month has just been flying by. I can’t believe we’re almost half way through March! Geesh! I’m super excited because this month is really big for me.1936104_10156726672310145_2019579992188404600_n

I have a lot exciting thing going on but the best part of all – yesterday I celebrated my birthday! Adding to the excitement the clocks went back last night and spring made a grand appearance this week – which are two of the greatest presents ever!

But enough about me, here’s what’s been going on for the month thus far.

Instagram

As things are in full swing again, my schedule has become a bit more hectic these days, hence the dwindling posts on insta. However the past two weeks have been amazing.

I met up with the amazing Sherri of Sherri Dream Big for an amazing brunch to catch up on life after graduation, blogging and the amazing things we’ve got in the works. It was truly inspiring conversing with someone who understood so many of the things I was feeling.

And of course I could not have been more excited about this birthday – it seems this nice weather we’ve had for the past week and this place of zen I’ve been in lately have really helped me embrace aging.

Blog

On Tuesday, March 8th the world celebrated International Women’s Day. I commemorated the day with a brief post about the significance of the day and the motivations to continue celebrating it.international-womens-day-2014-quotes

I also decided to take a different approach to this birthday and shared some of my birthday wisdom in yesterday’s post.

TV

Netflix also brought back one of it’s hit original series House of Cards for it’s fourth season. If you were like me and binge watched the first 3 seasons you could understand the excitement of learning there was an additional season.

Also returning to the small screen was the new season of A&E’s Bates Motel.

Music

It seems Beyoncé has set the trend in new music releases with the likes of Rihanna and Kanye West following suit with the release of their latest albums in a surprise fashion. The latest musical genius to get in on the action is none other than lyrical genius Kendrick Lamar’s who surprised fans on the 3rd with a tweet about the surprise LP, Untitled unmastered. The work already sits at the top of the Billboard 200 following its surprise arrival, selling 178,000 total copies making Lamar the third artist – with Drake and Future – to land at least two Number One albums since January 2015.

The album’s physical release hit shelves March 11th.

South x SouthWest Music, Film and Interactive Festival which runs from March 11th to the 20th is in full swing with everyone getting in on the action, even Ms. Washington who revealed that if it weren’t for social media there would never have been a season two of Scandal! Besides all the great celebrities, techies and fans that will be present one major highlight of this year’s festival – no not Kanye..the FLOTUS as Wednesday’s keynote speaker!

Media

Disney’s Zootopia – an interesting take by Disney on some pretty hot button topics in a neatly disguised children’s film. Leave it to the mega studio to find one of the cutest and most creative ways to make a splash.

London Has Fallen part of the Olympus has fallen film series premiered on March 4th to a luke warm reception. Featuring the likes of Morgan freeman and Gerard Butler, I must admit I was already underwhelmed with the previews – this is one time I’ll wait for it to hit Netflix.

I what may be one of her best works since Parks and Recreation – Tina Fey is exceptionally funny alongside Margot Robbie in this hilarious film about a female news reporter looking to mix things up. If you haven’t seen the previews then definitely check them out for Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot, and catch the film if you want something fun to watch on your next date night.

The month of March is National Kidney Month. Head over to The National Kidney Foundation website to learn more about why kidney health is important and how you can help make a difference in someone’s life.

And as things heat up on the American election campaign trail things acme to a head when members of the crowd at a trump rally in Chicago came to blows as protesters and Trump supporters  clashed. The brawls forced Trump to cancel as none of the security agencies present, which included the Secret Service, Fire and Police Department, had any control of the situation. The blame game has since ensued with Trump pointing the finger at Bernie Sanders’ supporters and threatening to press charges.
