CFDA Awards 2017

Just when you thought all the red carpet fun was over, the CFDA Awards – the unofficial “Oscars of Fashion” – rolled into town last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom here in New York City.

Although not as celebrated as say… the Met Gala, the festivities considered to be one of the industries hottest parties drew crowds of celebrities, designers, models, and style icons like Nicole Kidman, Lupita Nyong’o, and Bella Hadid, there to take in the amazing fashion and celebrate the evening’s winners.

In honor of Rei Kawakobo/Commes des Garcons

Monday night’s annual celebration of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s Met Gala 2017 marked one of the highlights of New York City’s spring time festivities.

Often marked by some of the most daring and albeit stunning gowns and silhouettes; everyone remembers Rihanna at the 2015 Gala, Beyonce’s latex gown at last year’s red carpet and who could forget Kim K at 2013’s event; the annual Gala serves as one of the museum’s biggest fundraising events and is typically the grand opening of the annual design exhibit.

Tony Awards 2016

In a special #FBF I wanted to take the time to share a recap of this year’s Tony Awards.

This past Sunday the Tony Awards gave a spectacular close to the 2016 Award season. Not only did the guests and honorees turn out in the numbers- and finely clad I might add – but the evening proved one for the history books.

Manus x Machina

All the interweb is abuzz with the talk of the 2016 Met Ball, and like everyone else I was all too excited to see the red carpet looks. Manus x Machina is an interesting theme given the growing influence of technology on how most of the world’s fashions are created – with the dawn of 3-D printing, and print productions. etc.

April’s Best

The month of April was jam packed with lots to talk about, tons to see and loads of newsworthy happenings!

Today I’m introducing a monthly round-up as yet another new element to the blog. Here I am going to do a brief run through of some of the most notable things that happened in the past month.

So here goes.

Instagram

If you follow me on instagram you have been privy to my many spring inspired outfits and nail changes. I also debuted my new protective hair style so definitely check it out.

On the Blog

This month blog I introduced a new segment called Weekly Rewinds where I summarize all things the fun things from the past week, which will serve as a capsule for anyone who hadn’t had the time to stay in tune during the week.

There was also a post in commemoration of Earth Day 2015, reminding you guys about the importance of being eco-conscious as well as listing some great examples of how to go green.

This month I also did a review of the Basquiat exhibit currently open at Brooklyn Museum, where I got to meet the always wonderful and absolutely stunning June Ambrose and her lovely daughter, Summer.

Also mentioned on the blog my Easter pineapple upside down cake, (recipe coming soon).

Weekly Rewind

Hey guys – it seems like I just finished last week’s weekly rewind and yet here we are again. This week has flown by and I still haven’t figured out where the time went. However it’s time for another Weekly Rewind and a round up of all the things that made it at the top of my list.

First of all spring has sprung… as I did last year I took my official spring shot of the blooms on my walk along the block to our apartment –

Spring Time Blooms

And, kudos to the best spring day ever!! I took the long way all day just to relish in the sunshine and even had lunch outside!!

Golden Globes Review

As promised I have gone ahead and completed my review on my favorites from the Golden Globe Awards.

Admittedly, this year has had some of the better styled awards show red carpets, thus far. However, I can honestly say that I was sorely disappointed by some of my all time faves – looking at you Lupita, Jemima Kirke and the queen of slayage…JLo?!

That Time of Year….

Sigh!

It is one of my favorite times of the year…yes we are fresh off of the reverie of the Holiday Season and New Year’s resolutions but for me I’m getting most excited about…Award Season!!

Let me first start by apologizing for being M.I.A., the past week was a very long one.

Now back to these award shows…140227_CBOX_OscarAward.jpg.CROP.promo-xlarge2

For quite sometime now I have been intrigued with award shows and the glamour of it all. I always look forward to seeing which of my favorites have been nominated…and of course like everyone else I can not wait to see who will stun in yet another amazing designer gown/suit or set a new trend a Fashion’s new “it” guy or girl!

Last year on of my all time favorites as Ms. Lupita N’yongo who just did not disappoint!! This year I am looking forward to seeing all of the new trendsetters and which of my favorites will continue to amaze. Over the next few posts I will be doing a recap of my favorites from this season’s show thus far, from The People’s Choice Awards (January 7th) to last week’s Golden Globe Awards (January 11th) and 20th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, (January 15th), so keep following for all of the juicy details and to give me your take on my choices.

Thanks again for visiting.
