Monday night’s annual celebration of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s Met Gala 2017 marked one of the highlights of New York City’s spring time festivities.
Often marked by some of the most daring and albeit stunning gowns and silhouettes; everyone remembers Rihanna at the 2015 Gala, Beyonce’s latex gown at last year’s red carpet and who could forget Kim K at 2013’s event; the annual Gala serves as one of the museum’s biggest fundraising events and is typically the grand opening of the annual design exhibit.
Last night one of the biggest nights in Hollywood kicked off this year’s award season in grand style. The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Dick Clark Productions, honored some of the best film, music and American Television.
Last night musicians and celebrities alike gathered the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the annual Billboard Music Awards ceremony. The evening hosted by rapper Ludacris and Singer Ciara was a momentous occasion for many with rapper, The Week’nd earning the most nominations with twenty nods and pop superstar Britney Spears receiving the Billboard Millennium Award.
Last night, the 88th annual Academy Awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences kicked off at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California. The ceremony hosted by actor/comedian Chris Rock honored the best films of 2015.
Much like the ceremony last year, this year’s show has been plagued with complaints about the Academy’s lack of diversity in it’s panel of judges and nominees, prompting many actors to opt out of the evening’s festivities, including one of the night’s honorees, screenwriter, director/producer Spike Lee.
Black Excellence was on full display this past weekend at the 2016 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards which took place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California,U.S.A.
The evening, hosted by Anthony Anderson and narrated by Cree Summers, honored outstanding people of color in films, music, books and television shows and several of Hollywood’s most famous faces were given the highest honors this year.
But before the night’s festivities kicked into full swing the nominees and guests graced the red carpet. It seems the who’s who of Black entertainment was out in their numbers. Here are some of the amazing stunners.
