Because She’s the Greatest
You guys mother’s day is only days away! (yikes!!)
If it completely slipped your mind or you’ve had a pretty hectic week, I completely understand.
While many see this as a day to shower mom in expensive gifts, it’s often the simple things that she will cherish more. That’s why I created this simple guide to give you some helpful tips on how to wow your mom and still make her feel like the rock star that she is.
Breakfast in Bed
First up, is everyone’s favorite I’m sure – and one of the simplest ideas ever – breakfast in bed. Now I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t love waking up to a treat like that.
A single trip to the grocery store would allow to you rustle up all the ingredients you would need. This may be something as simple as bacon and eggs, fruit and toast, french toast or waffles and the aforementioned – scratch the toast, or for the more adventurous cook, a breakfast of eggs benedict or a frittata and mimosas. Either way, have fun with it and if you have little ones feel free to let them help with simple tasks like measuring the dry ingredients or cracking the eggs.
Disclaimer: If you do not cook or are not someone who’s skilled in the kitchen buying pre-made and or microwaveable options is totally understandable.
Hand Made Card
It’s incredibly easy to pop into your nearest store and snag a last minute token to show your mom or that special lady in your life your appreciation for all that she does but think about how much more your gift would mean to both of you if it was handmade. The thought and effort would go much further than the commercial words scribbled in another hallmark card.
p.s. And the little ones can also get in on the action. Who says gift giving can’t be a fun afternoon of arts and crafts?
Activity Coupon Book
What could be more fun than thinking of fun and amazing ways to make mom smile than creating her very own coupon book. For the hubbys, this could include things like breakfast in bed, time off laundry or dish duty, a night off from putting the kids to bed, a romantic evening out, a couples getaway/retreat, movie night, a girls’ night out or tickets to that concert or play she’s been dying to check out.
At-home Spa Day/Gift basket
I think everyone can agree that nothing feels better than a day to unwind and be pampered. So why not treat mom to her very own spa day at home. It beats the crowds at her favorite spa and puts in that quality time you’ve been meaning to fit into your busy schedule.
So get those fluffy robes and towels prepped, snag her favorite candles, lotion and bath salts (or whip up your own at home), set up a mini mimosa bar and makeshift facial and mani-pedi station (mood music included – thank you Alexa or iphone) and have your mom enjoy her day off.
p.s. This a perfect-mother daughter idea. Check out these links for how-to’s to make your own bathsalts and homemade shea butter body butter which you can also include in a gift basket with the aforementioned goodies a gift to mom.
DIY Jewelry or Trinket Dish
