Welcome to La vie de Soleil (for those in need of translation… The Sunshine Life).
I’m Livi and this is my world – well part of it anyways. I’m a Brooklyn-based island girl in the midst of an uncanny love affair with the city, which sometimes borders on the love/hate side of things.
I started this blog as a creative outlet. Writing is my therapy (I know – how totally cliché) – but it really makes me happy, while allowing me to freely express myself.
That being said, this has been one of the scariest, most exciting things I have ever dared to do and every day I learn more and more about myself as I decide which parts of my life I wish to share with you all. I hope that my posts are always enlightening and fun.
Where am I from?
Although I was born here in Brooklyn, I spent a vast part of my early life on the island of Grenada – the Spice Island of the Caribbean and 10th smallest country in the world!
What is my ethnicity?
I identify as Afro-Caribe, although to everyone else here I am African American/Black until I switch between accents – then I’m just different, lol.
Where else have I lived?
What are some of my favorite things?
Art, good TV, cuddles and bear hugs from the hubby, spicy food, chocolate and good wine. For more of my favorites check out my “Blogiversay” #FunFactFriday post.
What are some interesting facts about me?
You can learn more about my craziness in this #FunFactFriday post.
Where do I shop?
Although I listed some of my faves in the post mentioned above I will state for the record that since I have “champagne taste and beer pockets” I love a great deal, so sales are my best friend.
I love making a penny go the extra mile and have often pulled off amazing outfits on a dime. For those options I love simple, quality pieces from Zara, The Limited, Ann Taylor Loft, H&M, Forever21, Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, Mango, Aritzia, Topshop, Asos, Joe Fresh, Anthropologie, J.Crew Factory, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Nordstrom Rack, Aldo, Sephora and loads of other online retailers, like Threadscene, Sheinside, etc.
What is fashion advice I live by?
Less is more. Simple, quality pieces with awesome accessories can make any outfit spectacular – Oh! And don’t be afraid to invest in an amazing tailor and well fitting pair of jeans.
What do I like to do outside of blogging?
Reading, cooking (p.s. you guys will definitely see some of the things I get up to in my how-to posts), sketching, eating…lot’s and lot’s of it (I don’t mind trying new things as long as it doesn’t add to my list of allergies), learning new skills, travelling – though I haven’t done too much, yet – and finding my #BlackGirlMagic.
I love and thank all of you for your support and kindness and am truly glad to have you guys along fr this crazy beautiful journey called life. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all enjoy and subscribe.
